Remark: | The head on the obverse of the coin is described as Aphrodite in some sources (SNG France 2, Klein 1999 and some auction catalogues). However, it is possible to recognize a wreath, and therefore it is most likely a depiction of young Dionysos (Apollo does not appear on Nagidos coins). Nicolet-Pierre 2005, p. 31, note 38, also identifies this image as a juvenile Dionysos. Note that the young Dionysus is also depicted on Type 4.7 (silver obol). |
