Remarks: (1) The existence of the separate variant b is not certain because the left field of the specimen cited by Lederer is incomplete. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that the cited coin corresponds to some other variant.
(2) Lederer mentions vine leafs above Dionysos’s hand for the variants b and d. However, the leafs are not clearly visible on his depicted specimens (Plate IX, 2 and 3a).
(3) Coin 1983,0209.2 in the British Museum’s collection is possibly representative of the variant d, but the throne back is not visible. This may either be due to weak strike, or it may be a new coin type with no visible throne back (the different depiction of phiale, which appears to be shown in profile, would suggest this possibility).

Remark: This issue was minted under the satrap Tiribazos (Persian general and ruler of several Persian satrapies in Asia Minor, satrap of Cilicia 386 – 380 BC). It is probably not a real portrait, but an idealized representation of the Persian Grandee. See Weiser, pp. 290 and 296.
